Professor Luke Timothy Johnson

Beginning January 13, 2008

January 13, 2008 marks the beginning of a course on Jesus and the Gospels. The complete course not only examines the four Gospels of the New Testament, but the many ancient works of the Gospels of Phillip, Thomas, James, and others. The first twelve sessions deal with the Historical Jesus and the reasons for a Gospel. It will also cover the material in the Gospel according to Mark. This is not necessarily a beginner class, but it provides an interesting place for a serious beginner to get off to a good start.

Professor Luke Timothy Johnson (Ph.D., Yale University) is the Robert W. Woodruff Professor of New Testament and Christian Origins at Emory University’s Candler School of Theology. Dr. Johnson will be the guest lecturer by way of a 25-30 minute DVD presentation. A class session outline book is available for $5.00 a person. These books must be ordered two weeks in advance. A copy of Dr. Johnson’s presentation is also available on CD for those who may miss a session and are committed to bringing the CD back within the week. After Dr. Johnson’s presentation, there will be a 15 to 20 minute session for questions and discussion lead by Dr. Durbin.
