Text Box: Sunday Morning Class in Mark
Experiments with Lectio Divina
Sunday 10:45
North Classroom in the Fellowship Hall

The class on the Gospel according to Mark led by Dr. Durbin is finishing up and will begin a study on the Parables of Jesus. Before we conclude Mark we will be trying out the Lectio Divina method of approaching scripture. This is the “Sacred Reading” method that is being used by the prayer triplets that are meeting throughout the congregation. Lectio Divina is an approach to scripture that not only helps the participant in connecting with scripture as a member of a group, but it also can be used in ones personal devotional life. It is also an easily learned method for those who would like to begin a weekly bible study in their homes. If you are not in a prayer triplet and would like to take part in a Lectio Divina experience, or if you are in a triplet group and would like more experience in the method, come to Dr. Durbin’s class on Sunday morning. We meet in the North rooms off the Fellowship Hall.

Please do not think that coming in on the end of Mark will be a disadvantage. The Lectio Divina method will not depend on the beginning to end understanding of Mark. If this method proves helpful to the class, and I think it will, we will continue Lectio Divina as we approach the parables.
