Text Box: Dear God,
As we look forward to the coming of Christmas, my mind starts to wander. Putting up the decorations can take a long time as each and every one holds a special memory.
Last year we had just finished remodeling the kitchen, so decorating for Christmas was put on the bottom of the list. There were more important things to do——– like finding the can opener and which box had the silverware. Even though the boxes were marked, trying to cook for 5 people in the living room led to disorganization. Even cooking Thanksgiving dinner this year led to a search of items only used for large meals.
Now that we are slightly back to normal, it is decorating time. One tree I put in the living room holds just angels. It is covered with plastic, bone china, shells, paper, and other unknown material, all formed as beautiful angels. Almost all of them were gifts from my church family. As I unwrap them, I give thanks for all the friends who gave them to me. Each and every one holds a special memory.
The tree in the den holds toys, some are simple and others very ornate. There are the sand dollars that the grandsons made when they were very young. Blocks that we put hooks on from the granddaughters first toys. Some of the ornaments are bible characters. One is David and Goliath and another a glass manger scene. There is Raggedy Ann and Andy that my daughter gave me. (She still collects them even though she is 40.) So many memories of our children and grandkids lives. I even display the pictures of then when they were born.
As I continue to decorate our home, there is a bell that my mother made the year before she died. And a paper Santa from a neighbor who has been gone 35 years. Memories of special times and very special people who will always live in my heart.
This is the month for memories. We will continue the celebration with the grandkids coming on Christmas Eve to make the birthday cake for Jesus. No matter how old they are, it still becomes a very special day. And we will make new traditions to continue our celebration. And next year there will be new memories to ponder.
Luke 2:19, " But Mary treasured all these words and pondered them in her heart." Love, Judy
Text Box: Who’s Who in Sunday School

Ruth Nash currently lives in North Eaton with her husband, Don. She has resided in North Eaton all of her life. At age 7, Ruth began attending NECC when her foster mother, Carolyn Phelps, began taking her every Sunday morning. She remembers having a special outfit to wear only on Sunday. Even at the young age of 7, Ruth can remember listening to the minister, Rev. John Updegraff’s sermons. Growing up at North Eaton Christian church has wonderful memories for her.
Ruth has decided to retire from teaching Sunday school after devoting about 46 years of her time and energy teaching children at the North Eaton Christian Church. Most of her teaching has been with children in kindergarten, first, and second grade. Ruth began her teaching career with Vacation Bible School and eventually added Sunday morning classes to her teaching repertoire.
Ruth chose nursing as her career, because she loves helping others. Even after her retirement, she continued to take care of people in their homes. In her spare time, she enjoys reading and sewing. The summer months are Ruth’s favorite because she loves the hot weather. During those same months she is able to enjoy her favorite foods, fresh garden vegetables. She thinks her husband grows the most delicious vegetables in his garden. Ruth also enjoys eating home baked cookies. She never ever buys cookies that are sold in stores.
Many people have influenced Ruth on her spiritual journey while attending church, in fact, too many to name them all. She has chosen a few to give special mention to: Roberta Balogh, Bernice Grills, and Park and Cora Dimaline.
Ruth has enjoyed teaching over the years and says that every class was different. She enjoys watching the children whom she has taught over the years, grow into adults, get married and have families of their own.

Text Box: Ruth received a beautiful floral arrangement from the church on Nov. 12th. Sue Webb designed the arrangement. The Sunday School hosted the monthly fellowship hour in her honor. Many notes of thanks were written by the congregation to Ruth.

Thank you RUTH NASH !
