Bernadette Hisey

Bernadette Hisey was raised in Avon Lake and now resides in Elyria. She has been playing piano since she was 5 years old and has accompanied students and ensembles since she was 9 years old. She received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Music Education as a voice major from Cleveland State University in 1982. She received a Masters in Music Education (voice) from the University of Akron in 1998. She taught choir and band at Lorain Catholic High School (1982-1984), choir at Bay Middle School (1984-1987), K-8 general music/band/choir at St. Peter's Elementary, Lorain (1989-1993), and K-5 general music/band/strings at Harrison Elementary, Lakewood (1993-present) where she also has a 4th/5th grade tap dancing club. She directed 4 children's choirs and 4 handbell choirs at Bay Presbyterian Church (1980-1989) and has often substituted at her home church for children's choir and handbells (Westminster Presbyterian in Amherst). In her spare time, she is involved with musical theatre as a director, choreographer, accompanist, or actress. She is married to Ernest Hisey and has two young adult children, Joseph and Susan.
