PASTOR
The Reverend Dr. Paul H. Durbin
Dr. Durbin has been the minister of the North Eaton Christian Church since October 14, 1982.
The Southeast Christian Church of Columbus (1972-1977 as youth minister) and the
First Christian Church of Shelby (1977-1982 as pastor) were his two previous congregations.
Having grown up outside of Detroit Michigan, he has come to love Ohio;
however he remains a fan of whatever Big Ten team beats Ohio State.
Actually, he has no real team loyalty, but has had fun having been born and
raised in Michigan and living in Ohio among sports fans.
Dr. Durbin received a Bachelor of Arts from Oakland University in Rochester, Michigan in 1971.
He and his wife, Michaelene, moved to Delaware, Ohio in 1971 where he
attended the Methodist Theological School in Ohio.
He received a Masters of Arts in Christian Education and a Masters of Divinity in 1974.
In 1982, he earned his Doctorate of Ministry from the Methodist Theological School.
Though he participates in yearly continuing education events, he has enjoyed receiving
both jis Programmers and his Masters diplomas in Neuro Linguistic Programming as well as
training from the Interim Ministry Network of which he remains a member.
After so many years in one congregation, he sees the value of a long pastorate.
The members of NECC have become close friends to Dr. Durbin.
He has seen the church at its best and its worse which has created a commitment to it that endures.
“The North Eaton Christian Church is an absolutely wonderful congregation where one can
grow, learn, develop one’s spiritual life, and enjoy a close family of faith.
It is a great place to be. I am as excited now as I was when I first came to the church.”
Paul and Michaelene have a home in Brunswick where they live with their two parrots, Ricky (Cujo) and Shiraz.
They have two grown children, Rachel and Aaron.
Rachel lives in Wellington with her husband, Rob, and two beautiful Cocker Spaniels.
Aaron lives in Columbus.
Dr. Durbin’s interests involve reading Stephen King novels, watching movies,
cruising in his restored 1966 Mustang, and exercising.
